Just three years ago today, Courtney and I were sitting at a local restaurant, ready to reveal to our families that we were engaged. We were students at that time, we had photographed only two weddings together, and “Wet Fresco” was little more than a registered business and a dream.
Excitement was one of the emotions we felt.
We were also very very nervous about all of the steps we would need to take in order to be where we are today.
We moved forward, knowing that we were going to move forward, unceasingly. Each step taken was deliberate, and necessary.
First we had to tell our families that we were engaged, though.
I had a great little speech planned out, tracking our progress over the previous couple of years, and giving some bare bones of our future plans in order to assure them we’d be successful as business partners as well as husband and wife. I got about 4 glasses of wine into the meal, and decided it was time! I said about a sentence and a half then blurted out, “well…we’re engaged!” before diving back into the wine. Being an adult is hard…
But things have turned out very well for us over the past three years: We’ve photographed nearly 50 weddings; been part of the Wedding Extravaganza bridal fair (which is happening again this January 19th and 20th); gone from Windsor to London and Toronto for photo shoots; and Courtney and I were married on a beautiful Spring evening in May 2011!
This December we celebrate 6 years of being a couple, 3 years of business together, and we celebrate our wonderful clients over the past years who have entrusted us with documenting their own milestones. Thank you!
Here is a little recap of what our 2012 was like. Not too shabby, if you ask me. :)
